2015 Fresh Color Forecast

There is nothing I like better than a bucket of fried chicken – well you know, except maybe a FREE bucket of fried chicken (which I have been known to receive). Closely following that would be picking out gorgeous color combinations.

Each year, lists are published to forecast color trends for home, fashion, and graphic design. King of color, Pantone, deemed Marsala 18-1438 from the company’s Fashion + Home series as their color of the year. It’s a nice shade described by Pantone as being “like the fortified wine that gives Marsala its name, this tasteful hue embodies the satisfying richness of a fulfilling meal while its grounding red-brown roots emanate a sophisticated, natural earthiness.”

That’s a mouthful.

It is a sophisticated choice that has inspired me to think about stepping out of the rut and using some new color combinations in 2015. Designers can sometimes fall into the habit of using trusted color combinations. And, even more often, clients are afraid to mix things up.

Without buying a new Pantone book, I’ve selected these combos that can work well in print, fashion, or home.
