Spring Fever!

“Spring is nature’s way of saying, “Let’s party!”” — Robin Williams
It’s officially Spring – Finally! Flowers are blooming! Birds are singing (Mark and I have a bird that visits our window sill regularly, we’ve named him Herman)! Trees are turning green (and their pollen is turning my blue car green!) Butterflies are showing off their colors! There’s spring cleaning!
WAIT! What? Who snuck that housework-y one in?
Spring cleaning is one of those things that I don’t love but is an absolute necessity at my house and once it’s done I’m always happy with the end result. It’s also a great time for a little spring cleaning and sprucing up your website.
Spring Clean
Take a hard look at your site with a critical eye. Think about your site’s visitors and what they’re looking for when they visit your site. Is it easy to navigate? Is there information that’s outdated or that has changed? Maybe you’ve had some staff changes, maybe you’ve moved to a new location and updating your website slipped through the cracks. Read through the content and see if there are things you can change to give it a quick refresh. Also look for things you can maybe cut from your site – more often than not sites are being accessed using mobile devices and they need to be easy for those users to navigate with direct links from the home page to the pages with the most sought after information.
Freshen it up
Updating the images on your website can be a quick and easy way to freshen up the look. We have a customer that owns a plant nursery and they have two sets of almost identical graphics – however one is done in brighter spring colors, with photos of spring/summer flowers and the other set is done in darker colors and includes photos of evergreens and trees in fall colors. Take a look at the photos on your website and see if that’s a good place for you to freshen up your site.
Include Social Media
If your site has been up for a while chances are you don’t have links to your social media streams included on the home page. This can be a great way to grow your audience. Look at your site and be sure your site’s visitors can easily find you on social media.
And Finally…
Step away from the computer and enjoy the beautiful weather before the heat of summer sets in.
